The Tallgeese, or Prototype Leo, was the
first combat-ready mobile suit and the
ancestor of all modern mobile suits. It was
developed at the Corsica research base under
the auspices of OZ, a subsidiary of the
Romefeller Foundation. The Tallgeese was
essentially completed by AC 175, when its
designers quit the project in reaction to
the assassination of space colony leader
Heero Yuy. OZ subsequently developed and
produced a series of mass-produced mobile
suits based on the Tallgeese, while its
disgruntled designers set out to surpass
their earlier creation.
This experimental mobile suit was
designed for maximum power and performance.
Huge and heavily-armored, the Tallgeese
sports powerful vernier rockets whose
immense thrust allows it to fly in Earth's
atmosphere. However, its tricky handling and
raw acceleration make the Tallgeese
imposible for all but the toughest and most
skillful human pilot to operate. When OZ ace
pilot Zechs Merquise drags this
twenty-year-old antique out of storage in
order to battle the space colonists' Gundams,
it's an act of almost suicidal desperation.
The Tallgeese's usual armament consists
of a pair of beam sabers stored inside its
shield, and a shell-firing cannon known as a
dobergun. While the dobergun's recoil is
almost too much for a Leo to handle, the
giant Tallgeese has no problem wielding this
devastating weapon.
